Elinor’s Take:
What I like about this opportunity is that there appears to be a real business here, not simply a job being sold by an owner. The company has operated since 2007, generated $2 million in revenue and $707,000 in stated SDE, and already has a manager in place. That combination of longevity, strong cash flow and reduced dependence on the owner immediately gets my attention as an exit planner.
The #1 TripAdvisor position in Jackson Hole also represents meaningful brand equity in a destination where reputation and customer reviews can be extremely difficult for a new entrant to replicate. Add an established booking system, equipment and vehicles already in place, and more than 11,500 guests served during the 2025 season and a buyer is acquiring considerable infrastructure rather than starting from scratch.
From a travel-industry perspective, I also like the mix of a capacity-constrained core product and other products that have room to grow. Scenic rafting is already operating near its stated capacity, while the seller sees significantly more opportunity in National Park tours and fishing.
Advanced 2026 bookings are reportedly up 100% following the addition of professional marketing, which could indicate that the business has historically underleveraged its demand-generation potential. At a $3.5 million asking price, however, buyers are being asked to pay roughly 5× stated SDE, so I would want to understand exactly how transferable those earnings are, particularly the owner's current role, the sustainability of that recent booking growth, seasonality, permitting and access and what normalized EBITDA looks like after replacing any owner responsibilities.
Still, on the surface, this has several of the characteristics I look for in a valuable tourism business: history, reputation, healthy margins, a team and manager, established operating systems, and identifiable avenues for growth.
